The official definition of The Girls Club is a female empowerment networking system. Playfully described as an entertainment industry sorority or a team of “Boss Bitches”, this collective is unapologetic about celebrating the beauty, intelligence and persistence of its members. As a member of The Girls Club, one will be taking part in redefining the image of females in business, particularly in the entertainment business, and changing the stigma women have when working together. By recognizing each others strengths, celebrating our differences, and joining forces through like-mindedness, The Girls Club aims to create opportunities, and business ventures that will achieve a common goal of success for each participant.
Founded in 2004 by Shanell, Mika Means, and D.Woods, The Girls Club has grown to include songwriters, artists, dancers, choreographers, actresses, stylists, radio personalities, dj’s, publicists and more.
SNL aka Shannell
Introducing Shanell a.k.a SNL,if not the hottest, one of the hottest singers, writers, choreographers and dancers in the country. She, alongside of The Girls Club crew, has written songs for Kelis, One Chance, 3LW, Danity Kane and many others. Shanell has been a professional dancer for some of music’s greatest stars including, The Game, Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Avant, Lil Bow Wow, and Neyo.. She has choreographed for Young Joc on the BET awards, Jagged Edge and many other up and coming artists. She is currently working with Lil Wayne on her debut album and set to tour with Lil Wayne on the “I Am Music” tour this winter.
Mika Means
NEXT….we have Mika Means ,the sultry, sexy singer/rapper international pop star!!! Mika currently has a single called “Spend Ya Money” that is blazing the air waves across the country. She has co-written for many major artists, including those listed above. Mika was also featured in the Jay-Z, “Show Me What You Got” video, as well as on “Hip Hop Hold Em”, the network live poker show as a model and dancer. Mika Means is currently working on her album with superstar producers and writers, Catalyst, Kwame, Bangladesh, and The Girls Club on Motown/Universal records set to release in spring ‘09.
Ms. D.Woods
Reintroducing…Ms. D. Woods. Many of you know her from the platinum selling pop group, Danity Kane. She was one of the 5 members of the group to compete in P. Diddy’s Making the Band 3 and win!!! She has soared to the top of the charts with Danity Kane and has been praised for her tremendous talents worldwide. . D. Woods, is not only a very talented singer and dancer. She, like her Girls Club counterparts, is also a dynamic songwriter. She has written songs on Danity Kane’s sophmore release “Welcome to the Dollhouse” and collaborated with artists such as Lloyd and Gorilla Zoe. Look for much, much more from this hot diva, including film/TV projects and her workout video, “Fine for the Summertime” set to hit stores by next spring.
In 2007 “Project Girls Club” was started to provide outreach efforts to young girls and serve as role models. Project Girls Club is the philanthropic division of the The Girls Club. While most frequently described as “a sorority for the entertainment industry” The Girls Club not only aims to encourage female professionals in the industry but also serve as an example of sisterhood, selflessness, and strong will to those young women who are in need of guidance and direction. Through various outreach programs and collaborations with already established organizations, Project Girls Club will focus on increasing self esteem in urban, at risk girls, providing opportunities to be introduced to numerous career paths and avenues of self improvement.
